Software Engineer for AI Healthcare Project (Posted on: 25 March 2019)

Software Engineer
Job Summary:
The Software Engineer will be responsible to design, develop and install software solutions. The responsibilities include gathering user requirements, defining system functionality and writing code in various languages, like Java, Ruby on Rails or .NET programming languages (e.g. C++ or JScript.NET.) Our ideal candidates are familiar with the software development life cycle (SDLC) from preliminary system analysis to tests and deployment. Ultimately, the role of the Software Engineer is to build high-quality, innovative and fully performing software that complies with coding standards and technical design.

Responsibilities

  • Execute full software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutions
  • Write well-designed, testable code
  • Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility
  • Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
  • Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer
  • Experience designing interactive applications

  • Excellent knowledge of relational databases, SQL and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate)
  • Experience developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (JSF, Wicket, GWT, Spring MVC)

We are looking for multiple Research Fellows and Research Assistants to participate in a new AI in Healthcare project at the Institute of Data Science and the School of Computing, National University of Singapore. Research Fellow:
Job Summary:
The Research Fellow will be responsible for undertaking in-depth research and innovation in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence and big data that lead to publications in top-tier international conferences and journals, as well as real-world implementations. He/she will be working closely with the Principal Investigator and lab members on one or more research projects with external collaborators on interesting and challenging real-world datasets and problem statements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement new concepts and algorithms in data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence
  • Research and be up-to-date on state-of-the-art methodologies in related technical fields and application domains
  • Develop ideas for application of research outcomes
  • Contribute to knowledge exchange and knowledge transfer activities with external partners and collaborators
  • Writing or contributing to publications for disseminating research findings
  • Make demos and presentations for exhibiting work at appropriate events.

Requirements:

  • A PhD in Computer Science or equivalent, with specialization related to data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence or databases;

Research Assistant:
Job Summary:
The Research Assistant will be responsible for designing and implementing efficient and robust systems, and applications for algorithms and methodologies based on state-of-the-art research in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence and big data. He/she will be working closely with the Principal Investigator and lab members on one or more research projects with external collaborators on interesting and challenging real-world datasets and problem statements.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and write robust, readable, and reusable code components and applications to implement state-of-the-art research outcomes in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and big data
  • Research and deploy state-of-the-art data science and AI programming and application development tools
  • Perform data cleansing and processing for analysis of real-world datasets
  • Assists with the editing and preparation of manuscripts, reports and presentations.
  • Participate in research discussions with lab members and Principle Investigators
  • Participate in presentations and demos for exhibiting work at appropriate events
  • Attends project meetings involving external collaborators

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or related disciplines with a focus in AI/Machine Learning/Big Data
  • Candidate must be able to work within fast moving, ‘hands-on’, results orientated environments. S/he will have a ‘can do’ attitude and be passionate about building and developing new ideas and models
  • Solid programming and application development skills with experience in Python/Perl/R. Mastery of programming languages such as C/C++/Java, and experience with Tensorflow would be a plus
  • Ability to read and understand methodologies in research papers

Postdoctoral fellow in Machine Learning (School of Computing) (Posted on: 28 November 2018)

  • Dr. Jonathan Scarlett (Assistant Professor, Computer Science & Mathematics) is seeking postdoctoral fellows to work on algorithms and/or theory in modern machine learning, with research topics potentially including the following:
  • - Sequential decision-making algorithms under uncertainty (e.g., black-box optimization, bandits, ranking)
  • - Robustness considerations in machine learning (e.g., model uncertainty, adversarial attacks)
  • - High-dimensional inference and learning (e.g., graph learning, structured estimation)

Research Fellow Position for Detecting Anomalies in Cyber Physical Systems with Generative Adversarial Networks on Multi-Sensor Time Series Data (Filled as of November 2017)

  • The Research Fellow will be responsible for designing and implementing machine learning models using generative adversarial networks (GAN) on datasets generated by a complex cyber-physical system (CPS) dataset testbed with multiple sub-processes.

Data Scientist (Research Fellow) Positions for Translational Research (Filled as of July 2017)

The Institute of Data Science (IDS) is currently building a team of next-generation data scientists to push the boundary of data science through transdisciplinary and translational research. The Institute works closely with industry partners and public agencies to innovate data-driven solutions for challenging real-world problems. We are seeking applicants who are both hands-on and scientifically-skilled, aspiring to become real data scientists who not only push the boundary of data science, but also create solutions for challenging real-world problems through their research.

The data scientists will be hired as research fellows (RFs) at IDS and should have a PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent, with specialization in data mining, machine learning, or databases.

As an IDS data scientist, you will have ample opportunities to work closely with internal and external collaborators to develop data science solutions for real-world problems, and to conduct unique and impactful use-inspired data science research that can be published in top academic journals and conferences. Data Engineer (Research Assistant) Positions for Translational Research (Filled as of May 2017)

The Institute of Data Science (IDS) is currently building a team of hands-on data engineers to develop state-of-the-art data science applications and solutions based on its innovative data science research. The Institute works closely with industry partners and public agencies on challenging real-world problems to create impact through data science. We are therefore seeking applicants who can help translate the outcomes of our research into real-world solutions.

The data engineers will be hired as research assistants (RAs) at IDS and should have a BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent. We are looking for hands-on data engineers who have solid coding and application development skills, with a passion and pride to write robust, readable, and reusable code components and applications. He/She should be familiar with at least one ML library/framework, and have up-to-date knowledge in the latest cloud computing and other big data technologies. He/She should also have excellent interpersonal communication skills for working closely with internal and external collaborators to implement data science applications. Some prior R&D exposure would be a plus.

The IDS data engineer positions are particularly suitable for those who are seeking to build an illustrious career in data science and/or interested in exploring data science R&D for possible further studies.
